2nd marking pd

11- club flyer

I started off with the linear gradient background. For this I chose blue and yellow. for the title "Everyone is invited" I used glass text format. For the information about the club, I used plastic text format. lastly, for the picture and the text on it, I used photo-filled text format. You can also play around with the format as you like it best.

12- Text with layer mode
Download a picture of a dress from Google and a texture. Use magnetic lasso to select the dress. Put the texture over it. You can change the opacity of the texture as you like it. When you are done, put the original picture of the dress and the texture next to the new dress you made.

13-Change one thing poster

First download a unhealthy food picture you eat everyday. Then download a healthy food picture you want to replace with the 1st picture. In this case, I chose a bowl of popcorn and a bowl of fruit salad. I used a gradient background for this. Use magnetic lasso to only take the bowl n fruit salad and put them together as you like it.  Make your file vertical. Add texts by supporting your poster. Change the opacity of the texts as you like it best. Lastly, put #changeonething and a logo of a food bank to complete your poster,

14-Halloween-Jack-o- Lantern

Find a stock photo with a pumpkin and remove the background using Magic wand or Magnetic Lasso. Insert on a new document. Click on Add a layer style icon from bottom part of the Layers panel and select inner glow. Next choose the Pen Tool, set the drawing mode on Shape Layers in Options bar and draw the shapes. Use blending options for the shapes.  Next select the Soft Round brush from Brush Tool and set the Opacity to 10% in the Options bar. Create a new layer under the layer containing the pumpkin and try to insert some light under this pumpkin, with the same brush’s used above.

    15a- Flag Displacement

Open a file in Photoshop with the desire width, Height, and Resolution with a white background. Open up your flag and a brick wall in two different tabs. Put the flag on top of the brick and set it as hard light. Click on filter and Gaussian bar to blur your wall only. Hit CTRL + SHIFT+ U to desaturate it. Save the displacement file and click on filter and displace the brick wall. Select the Brick Layer and in the Blending options choose Hard Light. Combining the displaced flag with the duplicated Hard Light brick wall layer produces a more realistic effect. Set the Opacity to 80% just to give the layer a more natural look. (Play with the settings to get the desired result).

                                                          15b- Flag/ face Displacement

Open up a picture of any face and a flag. This assignment is similar to the assignment on the top. Just follow the same steps. Also when you put the flag on top of the face, erase the flag on rest of the body except for the face. The outcome should look like the picture on the top.

16- Smart filtering with Motion Blur

Open up a motion picture of a transportation object in Photoshop. Click on filter- Blur- Motion blur to make your picture blurry. Click on the smart filter on the layers and go to the blush tool. Select on a soft brush tool and erase the blur from the moving object (car, train, etc.). Play with the blur till you like how it looks.

17- Quick Mask
Open up a picture in Photoshop. Click the Zoom tool and click to enlarge the area you want to select. Click the Default Colors button to set the foreground color to black and the background to white. Click the Quick Mask mode button. Click the Brush tool. Click and drag to adjust the Master Diameter slider. Paint over the areas you want to select. Click the Switch Foreground and Background Colors icon to make white the foreground color. Paint over any areas that you covered accidentally. Click the Switch Foreground and Background Colors icon again to make black the foreground color. Continue painting the area to select until the whole area is covered in red. Click here to turn off the Quick Mask mode. Click Inverse. The selection now includes only the area you painted in the Quick Mask mode.

                                                               18- Soft Focus Effect

Open up a picture in Photoshop. Click and drag the Background layer over the New Layer button to duplicate it. Click Filter- Convert for Smart Filters. Click Filter- Blur- Gaussian Blur. Click and drag the Radius slider to blur the image. Click select Screen on the layer bar. Add a layer mask. Press the brush tool to outline the eyes and the lips.

I learned how to add texture to something with layer mode, change one thing poster with using magnetic lasso and magic wand.I learned how to make a Halloween lantern, fag displacement on a wall, face, or anywhere you want. I also learned how to make smart filtering with motion blur, learned how to make quick mask on face where you can change anything you like. Lastly, I learned how to soft a focus effect on a face. Go to Adobe Illustrator and open up a new document. Use the rectangular shape to create your flush drive. Use the gradient bar to select the colors as you like. All the shapes are separated so you have to put them together and make it look like they are all connected. click on the text tool after you are done with the shapes and write whatever you want. Have fun!

20- Wireless Phone
You basically have to create bunch of rectangles and circles for this assignment. Use gradient tool to make the color. Follow the directions on the class website if you are not too sure. Some questions I asked Ms. Wang was how can you group all the shapes? You just have to select the whole phone and go to object then click on group and you are all set. How can you create the shapes on the buttons? Change your text format to wingdings and type the number for whatever symbol you want to make. Hope you have fun with this assignment.
